Pickleball isn’t just my job—it’s my passion, my playground, my obsession. I’ve always been driven by competition—whether it’s sports, board games, or anything that requires strategy and skill. So when I found pickleball, I was all in. The speed, the chess-like strategy, and the incredible community hooked me instantly, and now I get to share that passion with players looking to take their game to the next level.
As a 5.0+ player and one of just 26 DUPR Master Instructors in the world, I take a holistic approach to coaching, breaking the game down into four key components: technical, tactical, physical, and mental. I use progressions to simplify the fundamentals, helping players build confidence through structured learning—starting with the basics and layering in advanced strategies over time. Whether we’re working on a deadly third-shot drop, smart court positioning, or staying mentally tough in pressure moments, my goal is to help you think, move, and play like a pro.
My coaching style? High-energy, game-based, and always fun. We’ll drill with a purpose, apply strategies in live play, and focus on real results that translate to wins on the court. Off the court, I’m a dad of four, a Warriors fan, and constantly chasing big goals (pickleball and beyond). Whether you’re just starting or looking to take your game to the next level, I’m here to help you play smarter, move better, and dominate with confidence. Let’s get after it!

Hailing from Blaine, Minnesota, Brent Waiwaiole is an accomplished pickleball player and well-known pickleball instructor. As the Vice President of Player Development, he helped build the North Star Pickleball Association which has provided pickleball programming and fostered pickleball growth in the Twin Cities.
Since 2018, Brent has played in numerous Sr. Pro events, is a U.S. Open champion, and Played in the inaugural season of the National Pickleball League. His most recent medal achievement came at the APP Sacramento, tournament, in March 2024, where he won Gold in the Masters division of men’s doubles.
Brent and his wife Linda recently moved to Truckee, California to be near their children and grandchildren.

Julie is a teacher at heart! With a background in education, teaching elementary school and junior high, she has also coached several youth sports for athletes ages 4-14 years old.
She is a Level 1 Pickleball Instructor and has several yoga and pilates certifications, including Mat Pilates, Yoga Sculpt, Vinyasa, and Yin. Julie’s goal at 3rd Shot is to help novice players develop their game, design fitness classes to support and enhance your pickleball experience, and be a vital role in youth programming.

My background is past high level racquetball player with over 25 years of experience and well over 100 tournaments and numerous trophy's in the open division. Besides teaching at the club level I also taught racquetball at the local community college. For the last 5 years his obsession is pickleball “I've never know someone to quit pickelball!” Steve has won medals both PPA and APP events. I received certification to coach through the PPR in 2024. Steve believes whatever the lesson is based on serves, returns, 3rd shots, simulated game play, drills, technique, tactical, etc... the experience should be always be fun and positive while helping students reach their goals.
My teaching philosophy is “Pickleball Progression” making sure you have all the foundation skills to go to the next level. I analyze your game: Grip, Stance, Paddle Preparation, Contact Point, Weight Transfer, Ready Position. Then we work on: Consistency, Accuracy, Positioning, Weaknesses and Strengths of you and your opponents. We finish with some type of game based play or drill to test the progress. My goal is for you to leave the lesson with the skills to do some self analyzing so you don't fall back into old habits. If possible I love to play some open play with you after the lesson ASAP. I will give you homework, both with links to outstanding coaches teaching videos directly related to the skills you need to improve, goals for your immediate future and drills to take with you to work on to reach your potential. I look forward to meeting you and doing everything I can to help you level up!

Chris Hall is a former professional volleyball player and experienced coach now focused on pickleball. He was a volleyball standout at the University of Southern California, earning NCAA All-American honors and playing for the U.S. Men’s Junior National and Boys Youth National Teams, where he competed internationally in Bahrain and Cuba. After graduating in 2022, Chris spent a year playing professional volleyball in Denmark before shifting to coaching.
With his extensive volleyball experience and coaching background, Chris quickly transitioned to pickleball, where he now competes at the 5.0+ level in PPA tournaments. His broad experience in both sports enables him to offer valuable insights into technique, strategy, and mental focus, helping players improve their game.
Whether you're new to pickleball or seeking to refine your skills, Chris's expertise and passion make him an invaluable resource for players at all levels.
