Robert grew up with a strong background playing tennis and paddle tennis, and started competing at the 5.0 level in 2021. In 2022, he started playing Open Pro tournaments, but decided to change his career path after sustaining a nasty quad injury. He has been teaching for 4 years, and taught Kenny Loggins how to play! He is a student of the game, dissecting both the micro and the macro, and is PPR certified. He excels at technical analysis of every shot, from the serve to the drop shot to the top spin roll, and everything in between. Robert believes in purposeful pickleball: having a purpose for every shot, efficiently using every part of the body, and thinking not about ‘this’ shot, but always the next one. He is the only JOOLA sponsored teaching pro, and looks forward to having you on court!
Lisa Cech is a former Division 1 Basketball player who began her coaching career when she was 16. She has coached at the college, high school and middle school levels. Few things are more satisfying to her than working with other athletes, understanding their strengths and finding ways to meet their specific goals. Lisa competed in racquetball before she discovered pickleball. Within a few years Lisa was competing in tournaments and has medaled at the 4.0 and 4.5 levels. She is a PCI (Pickleball Coaching International) certified coach. Though she brings 46 years of coaching expertise to the court and takes pickleball seriously, she has also worked as a stand up comedian and enjoys bringing humor and fun to each coaching session.
Keaten has been playing and competing in racquet sports for as long as he can remember and started coaching them only slightly more recently. Since 2009 he has been a teacher in some capacity, on court as a youth tennis instructor and then in the classroom as a TA at CU Boulder. These experiences allowed him to achieve a “Pro” certification rating from PPR, and as a pickleball coach he excels at distilling even the most technical elements of the game into easily digestible morsels of contextualized instruction. He also finds that students do not acquire new skills through discussion or basic drilling alone! Instead, he focuses his lessons on simulated gameplay designed to maximize fun and the occurrences of a developing skill without the crutch of routine. As a pickleball player, Keaten has medaled in 5.0+ tournaments and endeavors to compete in pro qualifier events.
Scott grew up playing multiple sports. His primary focus was soccer and running. Then, just running. He has spent the last 25 years racing around the world at distances from 5K to 100 Miles. In August of 2022, Scott thought a new activity might break up the monotony of long distance running…pickleball. Not only did he love to play the game, but he loved the social aspect of the sport. Since entering his first tournament in September of 2022 and winning a medal, Scott has played in leagues and tournaments across the Front Range.
Developing a true passion for the game, Scott decided the best way to share was to learn to teach. In May of 2023 Scott was certified through Professional Pickleball Registry. He continues to develop his game and his teaching method. Scott believes in meeting students where they are…being realistic…having fun. He focuses on the student. Scott will customize the lesson to develop the student’s skill and confidence to get to the next level.
Scott continues to race around the world and play as much pickleball as possible. He is also a certified yoga instructor and running coach.
As a multi sport athlete growing up, McKenzie was thrilled to discover pickleball in 2022! It wasn’t long until he was hooked and wanted to compete at a high level. He is truly a student of the sport and really enjoys teaching the strategy and soft game that is needed to develop a well rounded player. As a former lacrosse player he relies on his hand eye coordination for fast hands at the kitchen. With podium finishes in every tournament he’s entered, he has plenty of experience competing at a high level. As a natural leader he enjoys coaching and helping people reach the next level of their game!
Jon is a Colorado native and played many sports growing up. Of all the sports he played, he focused mainly on soccer and badminton. He competed competitively in soccer on a state level and competed in badminton on a national level where he attained #2 in the nation in singles and #1 in the nation in mixed doubles. His father was in the 1960 Rome Olympics as a decathlete, and this is where Jon gets his athleticism and competitive nature.
Jon was in the U.S. Army from 2005-2017 as a UH-60 Blackhawk Pilot and ultimately became an Instructor Pilot. During this time, he discovered his love for teaching because he enjoys watching people grow and develop into their full potential.
In January of 2023, Jon discovered pickleball and has not looked back since! In October of 2023, he competed in his first tournament and took 1st place in men’s doubles 4.0+. He loves to study all aspects of pickleball, and this motivated him to become a PPR Certified Associate Coach in January of 2024. His love for pickleball shows in his desire to constantly be on the court improving and he loves to teach others so that their game can always be improving too.
